Megan Anna Rapinoe was born on the 5th of July, 1985 in Redding California. She began playing soccer from a very young age and sharpened her skills in her teens. Rachael was her brother in arms. She attended University of Portland with Rachael. Megan Rapinoe was a star of the university's soccer team and was among the top female scorers on the collegiate level in the United States. Rapinoe was selected for the Chicago Illinois Red Stars in the recently formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. She played with the team until the team disbanded at close of the 2010. Rapinoe played for a few games with the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence before being sold to Boca Raton Florida MagicJack. After just eight games, Rapinoe scored two goals and helped the MagicJack finish third in the division. The magicJack was dissolved in the latter part of 2011, and WPS fell apart in the early months of 2012. Rapinoe returned to the United States in 2011 after playing in the Sydney Football Club FC, the Australian W-League. Then, she joined The Seattle Washington Sounders Women (now the Sound FC). In 2013, Rapinoe played soccer in France. Later, she became a member of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL (formerly the WPS) that was formed as a following the dissolution of the WPS. Rapinoe also competed internationally. She was a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic women's soccer team that competed at London England. Rapinoe was a key player to help the U.S. Women's Soccer Olympic team win a gold at those Olympics. She scored goals or assisted in a number of them that led them to victory. The second Olympics took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. Her U.S. Team was defeated in the Rio quarterfinals. Rapinoe's FIFA Women's World Cup debut took place in 2011. She played a key role in guiding her team U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive wins in the year 2015. In 2018, she took on the position of cocaptain to the U.S. team. Rapinoe has had two points for the United States in the 4-3 win over Australia at the Olympics bronze medal game at Tokyo in 2020, due to the COVID-19 epidemic which Japan had to delay until 2021 because of the pandemic was awarded the gold medal at Tokyo in 2016.
